Daryl Hatfield
I build the measurement, automation, and AI systems that make digital marketing actually work, then I optimize what flows through them.
01The short version
I have been doing digital marketing since April 2012, at director level or above since July 2017. In-house first: NBA Entertainment, Freedom Mortgage, NewRez, Prescryptive Health, and agencies and product companies in between. Independent since the practice became Lagrange Studios, because the work I kept getting hired for was the same work every time, and it was never the media plan.
It was the layer under the media plan. The client whose reported acquisition cost could not be reconciled against enrollments on any of three attempts. The account whose analytics had been dark for two months without anyone noticing. I open every engagement with an audit of that layer, because everything downstream inherits whatever it already got wrong.
02How I work
Engagements are designed to end. The build gets handed over with your team trained on the parts they own, and what continues, if anything, is a standing check that it still works. I put the price on the page, I name what access I need before the work starts, and when a number is a projection the copy says projection. When a number turned out to rest on seven bookings, I retired it from the front page and said why.
When something is my mistake, the status update says so in the first line, with the diagnosed cause and the fix beside it. That is cheaper for everyone than a quarter of polite ambiguity.
03Why it says us on the front page
Lagrange is the practice: me on measurement, media and AI systems, plus the ventures the studio owns and operates. Small on purpose. You work with the people on this page, and the closing line holds either way: you hire us for one thing, you get better at seven things.
